Lichens

There is no comprehensive list of lichens for Treborth but the site is rich in epilithic species including a good range of Parmelia. Fruticose species are however rather scarce with only a few trees displaying good colonies of Usnea. Among the best substrates are the bark of the main drive side trees (principally ash, cherry and sycamore) and the upper canopies of the larger ash trees in the ancient woodland. Some old mature hazels in the ancient woodland are excellent for crustose lichens.
